Randall (Randy) W. Deck passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 16 with his wife, Julie and dog, Sam by his side. Randy was a man of great love and great joy who was as gentle and kind as he was energetic and industrious. He was survived by Julie; his parents, Lloyd and Diane; his sister, Cheryl Deck; and his nephew and niece Brandon and Lauren Kranz. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bettylou Deck.
Randy was born in Concord, Calif. on March 31, 1958 where he was raised and graduated Concord High School. He was an Eagle Scout and attended the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, from which he graduated as an officer and naval architect. He proudly served in the US Navy for 12 years, after which he continued his career in naval architecture. Randy had a successful second career as a real estate investor, work in which he took pride and was recognized for his skill and heartfelt attention to detail.
Loved dearly by his family, Randy was a cherished husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He returned that love tenfold to family, friends and acquaintances alike. Randy loved to hike with his father, travel anywhere with his beloved dog, Sam, and was known to his neighborhood's children as an eager resource for fort-building tools and supplies.
Randy married Julie Deck on June 29, 2007. Their life together was full of laughter, love and deep respect for each other. Randy and Julie were true partners in life and the best of friends.
A celebration of his life will take place at the Lone Tree Golf Course in Antioch on Sunday, August 25 from 4-7pm.
