Stephen John Peterson

–

Pleasant Hill, California

Stephen John Peterson, age 59, passed peacefully into his Father's arms on Sunday morning, September 25, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family in Antioch, California, after a nine year battle with Multiple Myeloma. His wife of 32 years, Brenda (Hall) and children, Nicholas (30), Stephanie (26) and Brandon(19). Steve was born in Grand Rapids, MI to John and Vicki Peterson on December 11, 1956. He was the only son born to enjoy the company of four sisters, who survive him, Kathy (Dan) Bell, Betsy (Jim) Weems, Theresa (Jim) Lundy and Deborah (Bill) Ward. He is also survived by his Dad and large extended family on both sides. Steve was preceded in death by his mother (2010) two nephews, Jeramey King (2007), Joseph Weems (2012), father-in-law Marvin Hall (2015), and brother-in-law Craig Hall (1987). Steve spent his younger years living in Grand Rapids, MI and was a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High and Davenport College. He moved his family to California, where he excelled in the food service industry for 39 years, most recently, food service for Stoneman Village in Pittsburg. Steve will be remembered for his love for God, enormous faith and servants' heart. He was a solid family man, ever faithful to his wife and their children. He enjoyed camping, boating, gardening, building computers, outing with family or friends to beaches, and playing with his dogs. He has served the Lord at Golden Hills community Church as a youth leader, camp counselor, Care group leader, and fundraising. Steve's quick wit and fun spirit were contagious, garnering him an exceptional following of friends. He had an unmatched enthusiasm for life. Steve was an enthusiastic follower of favorite teams, Detroit Tigers and Lions. In the end, he was a fearless fighter, one we called Warrior. The hole in our hearts is immense in his passing, but we rejoice that he is alive with Christ. A celebration of Steve's life will be held on Saturday, October 1 at Golden Hills Community Church in 2401 Shady Willow Lane, Brentwood at 1:00. A reception will immediately follow. Donations will be accepted for education and the ongoing expenses for the family via the go-fund- me account at https://www.gofundme.com/stephaniepeterson or at the service on Saturday.
