Robert Lee Bland

–

Pleasant Hill, California

Robert "SMA Bob" Bland, 77, of Oakley, California, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on May 03, 2015 at 6:45 in the evening.

Bob, as he was known to most of his family and friends, is survived by his wife Sue of nearly 35 years, and his 2 children, son Brian (Crystal) Evanson and daughter Christy (Aaron) Green. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Jessica, Erik, Samantha, Jonathan, Aaden, Liam and Isabella, as well as his sister Karen and his brother Ronald and many loving nieces and nephews. Bob was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.

Bob was a long time member of Alcoholics Anonymous and celebrated his 45th year of sobriety on January 19, 2015. He was an active member in AA for most of his adult life, and considered the members of the Colton Tuesday Noon group as an extension to his family. Bob was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching football, golf, baseball and boxing. As a young adult, he was a part of the Los Angeles Rams practice squad. He enjoyed reading crime novels and working puzzles. Bob was what one may consider "rough around the edges" but once you got to know him he was a big teddy bear. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A memorial meeting will be held on June 16, 2015 at 1:30 pm, immediately following the conclusion of the Tuesday Noon meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous.
