Rickey Jackson

–

Pleasant Hill, California

Rickey "Rick" James Jackson passed away at home in Oakley Thursday, December 8, 2011. Rick was born February 8, 1954 in Houston, Texas, but lived all his life in the East Bay.

Rick is survived by his son, Rickey, Jr. of Antioch; his mother, Pauline Cunningham of Oakley; sisters, Joyce Crouch of Oakhurst and Melanie Polk of Redding; brothers, Don Elmore of Brentwood, Jack Jackson of Bethel Island, Alan Jackson of Modesto and Ed Cunningham of Antioch; numerous nieces and nephews and several cousins and a host of friends.

Rick graduated from Antioch High School in 1972. He worked for US Steel (later known as Pasco) for close to 20 years. He also worked as a janitor for Antioch School District, a grave digger at Oak View Memorial Park and various other jobs in the area.

Rick loved to play baseball and was an avid Giants fan. The 49ers were his choice for football and he was a fan whether they were up or down. Last year was the greatest for him, though, when the Giants won the World Series. He even had his mom watching all the games and cheering with him. SOme of his nieces and nephews went to San Francisco for the parade after their win. He never tired of hearing about it and looking at pictures.

A graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery in Brentwood on Tuesday afternoon, December 13, 2011 at 2:00pm.
