Kenneth Edmond Leverich

–

Pleasant Hill, California

Kenneth Edmond Leverich went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday after a short battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease). He touched many lives with his smile, gentle spirit, positive outlook, and love for his Savior. He left us way too soon, but he's now in a new and perfect body up in Heaven.
Ken was born in Kansas City, Missouri and moved to Vidor, Texas when he was 5 years old. At age 13 years old, he moved to Pleasant Hill and lived most of the rest of his life in various cities in Contra Costa County. Ken graduated from College Park High School. His careers included working for Chevron Richmond long wharf and the State of California, in the State Lands Commission Marine Facilities Division. He retired early and obeyed a call from the Lord to move to France for language study and then to Chad, Africa with The Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM). He served there, along with his wife, from 2007 until he returned in 2014 due to some concerning symptoms he was having. He was diagnosed with ALS a month later. Ken enjoyed fishing, camping, stamp collecting, barbequing and talking!
Ken is survived by his devoted wife, Beth; wonderful sons Matt (and beloved daughter -in-love, Jennifer) and Jeff, all of Oakley. He is also survived by his mother, Betty Leverich, sister Judy Lingle (David) of Watertown, Wisconsin; twin brother Chuck (Anne), sister Nancy Rubino (Richard) of Missouri and brother David of Texas. He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews. Ken loved many and was loved by many.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of a life well lived on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Golden Hills Community Church, 2401 Shady Willow Lane, Brentwood CA. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to Western Federal Credit Union, 121 Sandcreek Road, Suite E, Brentwood, CA 94513 c/o the Ken Leverich ALS memorial fund.
