Janet Maurice Vanden

–

Pleasant Hill, California

Janet Maurice Aggeler Vanden, 68, passed away on Friday, September 8th, 2017. She was surrounded by her loving family at the Bruns House in Alamo.

Janet was born in Denver, Colorado to Maurice and Jane Aggeler. She attended high school at Saint Mary's Academy, Denver, and Convent of the Sacred Heart, El Cajon, California. Later she moved to San Francisco, where she met Marc Vanden, her husband of 39 years. They moved to the East Bay and raised 3 wonderful children.

Janet worked for Williams Sonoma for over 20 years, sharing her passion for fine cooking and baking with everyone. She was active in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, completing 2 separate 60 mile "Race for the Cure" events, San Diego and Seattle. She was also an advocate for the Alzheimer's Association. She met with numerous Senators to support funding, research and raising awareness, as well as completing many Alzheimer's Association walks throughout the Bay Area in support of her husband Marc.

Two of Janet's favorite pastimes were cooking and gardening. She was always ready to host beautiful gatherings with family and friends. She also loved to travel, listen to music, snow ski, read books, and care for her beloved pets (who sometimes received better treatment than her children). Janet was full of life and laughter, on a mission to celebrate life to its fullest with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marc, sister Sheila Barnes, mother Jane and father Bud. She is survived by her daughters, Emily Vanden, Molly (Derrick) Easton and son, Marc (Oksana) Vanden, and her grandchildren, Natasha Marie, Marc Ivan, Wyatt Lee, Emma Jane, and Hannah Claire. She leaves behind her sisters Anne Will of Santa Maria, Maureen Aggeler of San Francisco, brother Terry (Karin) Aggeler of Santa Barbara, father in-law Jean Vanden, sister in-law Anne (Matt) Noonan of Lafayette, and many nephews, nieces and special friends.

She was a member of Christ the King Parish in Pleasant Hill. Funeral services will be held there on Saturday, November 11th, at 10:30 AM.

The family would like to thank the Hospice of the East Bay, especially the Bruns House. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Janet's name to the Bruns House, 2849 Miranda Avenue, Alamo, CA 94507 or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
