Janean Young

JANEAN ROMIG YOUNG November 18, 1917 - June 17, 2009 Janean Romig Young, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at age 91 due to natural causes. She will be missed by many who knew her as a compassionate, generous, intelligent and competent woman who left a legacy of which her family is most proud. Born to parents Max and Cecil Romig, Janean grew up in the San Diego area. She went to college at San Diego State University, Cal Poly Pomona and University of California Berkeley and graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Liberal Studies. Janean was married to Bernarr E. Young for 52 years until his death in 1994. Janean has three children, Victoria Larson (Harry) of Concord, California; Chistopher Young of Emmett, Idaho; and Patricia Young of Temecula, California. Janean has three grandchildren: Erica, Danielle, and Jed. She has 6 great grandchildren with another to be born in the near future. Janean was preceded in death by her dear sister, Mary Peace Holloway, with whom she lived with for more than 15 years. Janean worked as a library clerk at the Escondido Public Library for many joyful years. She loved reading, writing, current events, movies, the performing arts, the mountains and animals. Family vacations included camping and traveling throughout the United States and a trip to the Philippines. Janean was devoted to her family and many friends, giving time, support and loving attention. Her final stage of her life was gratefully spent at Penny's Guest Home in Concord, CA. Janean's family thanks Hospice of the East Bay and the special care givers at Penny's. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 1800 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92026 in September 2009.
