James Edward Hildebrand Resident of Danville , Ca Nov. 16, 1963- June 3, 2010 Jim Hildebrand passed away on June 3rd after 46 well lived years. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word and touched so many lives with his gentle spirit and unwavering strength and faith. He fought his GBM IV brain tumor the same way he lived, with courage dignity and an amazingly contagious sense of hope and joy in the midst of the battle. Jim was born in Fresno County and grew up in Sanger , CA . He graduated from Lone Star Elementary School in 1977 and graduated from Immanuel High School in Reedley in 1981 as a Valedictorian. In 2009 Jim was inducted into Immanuel High School ?s Hall of Fame. In 1984 Jim served as an Intern for the Affordable Housing group within Bank of America, and upon his graduation from The University of California Berkeley he went to work full time with Bank of America. In 1999, Jim went to work for Bay View Bank to manage a large troubled loan portfolio. When that job was finished, he entered his ?Entrepreneurial Period? working on two separate ventures with long time friends and starting a consulting business, Norvelle Corp.. In 2007 Jim joined the team at PTLA in Walnut Creek , CA as their Director of Acquisitions and worked there until his death. In his 25 years in business he earned the respect of everyone he worked with and thrived on a new challenge. He loved the mountains, especially spending time at the family cabin at Huntington Lake where he hiked, back packed, sailed and relaxed with family and friends. In the winter he loved to ski. From helicopter skiing in Canada , to teaching little ones to snow plow, he was amazing to watch on the ski slopes. Jim was a gifted athlete, shining in several sports, especially football and baseball. He played Quarterback in High school and played in the 1981 Fresno Co. All Star Football Game. This was the first game played in the Bulldog Stadium. Jim was a skilled pilot and enjoyed sharing his love of flight with his friends. As much as Jim loved to play, and knew how to play well, he understood the importance of participating in active ministry to others. He was very active in ministry at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, and more recently at Community Presbyterian Church in Danville . He lived out his faith in Christ, walking the walk. Jim led a small group for Bible Study Fellowship until late spring of this year. Whether at a Cal Football game or playing soccer in the back yard, Jim loved being with his girls most of all. He was a very devoted father. The focus of his life for the past 13 years was out of love and fatherly attention to his daughters. Jim was a loving husband to his wife Cindy and a hero to his children Mary Elizabeth (13 years old) and Anna (8 years old). He is survived by his beloved parents, Noel and Carolyn Hildebrand of Sanger CA. He is survived by his sister Kathy Hildebrand and her husband Dewayne Johnson of Flagstaff , AZ and Linda Ballentine and her husband Frank Ballentine of Danville , CA and their two children, Ryan and Audrey. Jim will be missed by a large loving extended family of Uncles, Aunts, and his in-law family of the Lance clan. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
