Herbert Texeira

–

Pleasant Hill, California

Herb (aka ?Tex?) entered into rest in Danville on July 27, 2009, the day after a wonderful and special visit with his loving family. He was born in Waihee, Maui, Hawaii on March 2, 1916. At a very young age, he came to Oakland, California and was raised by his grandmother and grandfather. He is survived by Saraphina, dear wife of 66 years; loving ?two girls?, Priscilla Buchman (Bob) and Marcella Miranda (Ken); adoring granddaughter, Jennifer Casas (Carlos); and darling great-grandson, Joaquin. He and his wife had many lifelong friends in the Bay Area and throughout California. He was a veteran of World War II and a Purple Heart recipient, having served as a sergeant in the infantry in the ETO in Germany and commended for his sharpshooting rifle skills. He was a member for 30 years with the Knights of Columbus and was a Grand Knight of the local council. He was also a member of an organization for Army veterans known as the ?Ozarks? and proudly wore the hat with its emblem for many years. He will be missed but never forgotten. ?Aloha? for now until we meet again.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of the East Bay for their support and assistance. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the East Bay, 3470 Buskirk Avenue, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523 in Herb?s memory. Private services have been held and were arranged through TraditionCare in Pleasant Hill.
