Elaine D. Renas

Elaine was born in Cassville, MO and traveled to California as a young adult. She married Wm Renas in 1949 and they made their home in Pittsburg, CA. Elaine achieved her master's degree in Education from SF State University in the early 1960s and had a long career as a teacher, primarily at Heights Ele. School in Pittsburg. She attended Nazarene Church in Pittsburg. After retiring, she volunteered at the Veteran's Clinic in Martinez. She participated in the local DAR, serving as Regent of the San Joaquin Chapter and as District IV Director. She was a 'Golden Age' member of the Retired Contra Costa Teachers Assoc. Elaine and her husband also managed rental estate properties and enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Europe. In 2013, she moved to Lafayette with her daughter. There she affiliated with Living Hope Fellowship Church and attended the Lafayette Orinda Presbyterian Church Senior Group. She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Melnick; her grandson and his wife, Monte and Natalie Melnick; and cousin, Larry Tringle. Following a private burial, a celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, June 29th at the Lafayette Veterans Memorial Building, 3780 Mt. Diablo Boulevard, Lafayette, CA 94549.
