Pleasant Hill, California
Edra Orias Coleman, or Edy, as she was affectionately known, passed away peacefully from heart failure. She touched many lives with her generous heart and selfless spirit.
Born in Butte, Montana and raised on a farm she had a strong work ethic that served her well in life. Her parents would move their family to Washington in 1942 where she attended St. Mary's Grade-school and Immaculate Conception High School in Seattle. After graduating high school she spent three years in the convent before choosing a different path. That path would lead her to meeting the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Coleman at a chance encounter in Seattle and they married six months later. Together they had five children and 10 grandchildren in their 55 years of marriage. In their lifetime they would call many places home, including Arizona, South Dakota and the Far East, but they loved California and settled in Dublin in 1977.
Edy was an active community leader in Dublin and was always helping others. She had a servant's heart and would serve different community organizations all while holding a full-time job. Whether it was serving on a boards of directors, donating her time and resources to her church or charity or helping children, she was always at the ready to help.
Edy is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Richard Alfred Coleman; her children Leslee (Paul) Lee, daughter-in-law Lisa Coleman, Stacey (Mike) Christianson, Jamie (Michael) Gardea and Doug Coleman. Her grandchildren Katie and Kelly Lee; Sarah, Vince and Jack Coleman; Megan and Madison Christianson; and Eden, Everett and Elle Gardea. She is also survived by her siblings Vince (Marlene) Orias and Alice Kruis, both of Seattle; her sister-in-law Connie Orias of Castro Valley and her brother-in-law James (Sue) Coleman of Modesto and countless nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Edy is predeceased by her son, Scott Coleman; brothers Manuel Orias and Dave Orias and brother-in-law John Coleman.
