Pleasant Hill, California
Diane Gillespie Beauchamp died Monday, May 20, 2024, with her family by her side.
Daughter of James and Bernice Gillespie, she was born in Seattle, Washington. Her
family later moved to Redwood City, CA where she grew up and attended Sequoia High
School. She attended the University of Oregon. She later moved to Walnut Creek, CA
with her then spouse, Philip Beauchamp, where they raised four children.
Diane was active in the Walnut Creek community volunteering for the Murwood,
Parkmead Intermediate and Las Lomas schools and giving her time to her church, St
Paul's Episcopal Church, where she was a member for more than 60 years.
Diane loved her family. She was always up for a family get-together and if there was a
new baby in the family, she was there to help in any way she could.
Diane also loved living her life. She was a strong and independent woman. She worked
as a legal secretary but took time to socialize whether it was after work with co-workers,
or with her Bridge buddies. She was an avid traveler visiting the wine country in France,
the UK, Spain, and other parts of Europe as well as Montreal, Mexico, and China. She
attended concerts and plays. She was a frugal person, and she was a savvy self-taught
investor following the philosophy of Warren Buffet.
Diane loved to cook. She could be counted on to bring an excellent wine selection for
the Thanksgiving meal, and she made a mean giant Flag pie for the 4 th of July picnic.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Gillespie. She is
survived by her four children, Philip (Lynda) Beauchamp, Matt (Maryellen) Beauchamp,
Mark (Veronica) Beauchamp, and Elizabeth (Chris) Taylor, her ten grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren.
We will miss her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
