Charlotte Race has completed her long journey in this world, at age 93. Born Charlotte Catherine Muller on November 18, 1919, in Brooklyn, NY, she spent 54 years living in the NY metro area. There she met and married Allan Race, an attorney for a commercial bonding company. They had two children, Stephen and Christopher, and moved to New Jersey.
Charlotte and Allan moved to Albuquerque, NM in the 1970?s, where they enjoyed the desert climate, travel and leisure. After Allan died in 1982, Charlotte became a volunteer bookkeeper for her local fire department, and was given an award for a decade of service.
She moved to Rossmoor Village (Walnut Creek) in 1996, where she spent the final chapters of her life surrounded by her family. She is survived by her sons and her grandchildren, Kate, Eric and Alex. She was predeceased by her sister, Harriet Primrose Wade (2007) and Brother Stewart Muller, both of New York.
A life-long fan of baseball, Charlotte grew up a Brooklyn Dodgers fan, but became a loyal Oakland A?s supporter upon moving here. She also enjoyed card games, cats and dogs, gardening, and an occasional smoke and drink. She will be remembered for her feisty personality and laughter.
A memorial service will be at St. Anne?s Catholic Church, 1600 Rossmoor Parkway, Walnut Creek, CA, at 9am on Saturday, September 1st.
