Brian Lannon Woods

–

Pleasant Hill, California

Brian Lannon Woods passed Saturday, August 6 after living life to its fullest. Raised alongside twin brothers, Ed and Jim, in Fair Oaks, CA by his mother, Irene (Hall), and father, Edward Woods, Brian attended Earl LeGette Elementary School, Bella Vista High School, and UC Davis, where he graduated with a degree in Physiology in 1979. Though he and his future wife, Randi Rieger, grew up only two miles from one another and attended the same public schools, they did not officially meet until July 4, 1982 at a family picnic. They were married four years later on July 26, 1986 and were very proud of their 30 year marriage, which was made greater by the addition of their three children - Ian, Conor, and Lauren - and, later, Lauren's husband, Patrick. Brian's greatest joy was meeting his first grandchild, Leo James Samuel, who was born on July 25, 2016. Brian's work in commercial real estate began in Sacramento and eventually brought him and his family to the Bay Area. There, he spent 16 years at Jones Lang LaSalle as an account executive, Regional Director, and recipient of the esteemed Champion of Excellence award (given to members of the firm who embody its values of integrity, authenticity, and mentorship). When he wasn't providing counsel to colleagues, Brian took great pleasure in sharing his love of the outdoors with family and cherished friends. As an avid fisherman, backpacker, and mountaineer, Brian guided friends and family from the Sacramento River to the summit of Mt. Whitney. Yosemite was a frequent destination, whether to climb Mt. Hoffman or Half Dome. Chances were, his family rescue dogs accompanied him. In addition to pursuing his own passions, Brian always supported his family in their endeavors. He accompanied his son, Ian, on a 100 mile trek in New Mexico as Ian worked towards becoming an Eagle Scout, and was rarely absent from any of his children's events - Lauren's soccer games or sons' concerts. Brian supported Randi and her passion for helping homeless dogs and together with their children they fostered over 30 dogs during the past 14 years. Brian is survived by his mother and brothers, wife, children, grandson, nieces, nephews, and cherished goddaughters Lindsey Kirby, Alyssa OrtizBranscombe and Allison Henderson. He will be missed by countless friends and every member of the Upper Sac Fly Fishers, with whom he attended the annual River Woods retreat for over 20 years. A Celebration of Brian's Life will be held on Friday, August 26 at 1pm at the Veterans Memorial Center, 3780 Mt Diablo Blvd, Lafayette, CA 94549. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of the East Bay ( www. hospiceeastbay .org/) or the charity of your choice.
