Barbarita Maria Chavez

Barbarita Maria Chavez, devoted mother, nana, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at John Muir Medical Center in Concord, CA; she was 64.

Barbie was born on December 23, 1952 in Albuquerque, NM to Sosteno and Erlinda Peralta. She moved with her family as a child to Southern California and then later on moved to Northern California where she spent her final years. She had 4 children, Angelina (RIP), Armando, Tina, and Vanessa. She had 7 grandchildren, Tita, Angel, Priscilla, Alyssa, Timothy, Emily, and her baby Colten. Although her life's passion was raising her kids and loving her grandkids, she had several jobs throughout her life. She loved caring for people and became a CNA then a medical assistant for a pediatric cardiology office. Her true caring and compassion comforted her patients as it did most people who she came in contact with. She always went above and beyond for them all. She was generous with her love, so generous that many people viewed her as their own mother and nana. She loved God and got strength and comfort from her faith.

Barbara was the life of the party and enjoyed every day.
No matter what life threw at her she stayed strong and positive. She cherished her family and taught us many of her values. Family always came first with her. Nana's partner in crime was her beloved dog Panchita. Panchita never left her side, she was right there even to the very last day. Rest in peace, Nana, we all love you and we'll never forget your fun and loving spirit.
