Pleasant Hill, California
Born Aundrea Dawn Giles on November 4, 1944 In Chattanooga, Tennessee. A 22 year resident of Antioch, California.
Aundrea passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday August 27, 2017.
Raised in San Francisco, California, Aundrea was a 1962 graduate of Mission High School.
Aundrea was a beautiful, talented, intelligent woman with a fantastic sense of humor. Often, laughter is what carried her and her youngest daughter through the hardest times of her illness.
Her knowledge of dance, history, literature, poetry, music, theater, and art was vast and always admired by those she shared it with. She loved to garden and was extremely proud of her flowers, her fruit trees, and particularly her beautiful Magnolia tree, "Wheezer." Other things she enjoyed were home improvement, trivia, movies, Nascar, watching horse racing, tennis, golf, and The Olympics. She got great pleasure from doing nice things for her family, driving her Cadillac with the sunroof open, and the companionship of her adorable Apricot Poodle, "Joey." She particularly loved watching the NFL draft with her special grandson, Robert, as she was a lover of football all of her life. Her son in laws and her grandson converted her to being a fan of the Oakland Raiders and she readily admitted she had "Gone to the Dark Side." She loved to travel, play Bingo, and was always a fan of good Southern Cooking. She was excited to go watch her granddaughter, Faith, sing in her choir performances, the passion for music was instilled in her by her Iya from a very young age. They enjoyed seeing plays, musicals, and watching period movies together. She was instrumental in instilling the love of swimming in Faith and there was no greater pleasure she got than watching her compete at her swim meets from a very young age.
Aundrea was a Pattern Engineer for Levi Strauss before retiring in 1999. When most of us look at Levi's, we see a pair of jeans. When she looked at them she saw pattern numbers, arcuates, rises, and rivets. She truly enjoyed the many years she spent in the apparel industry.
Aundrea spent the better part of 36 years with her late husband and best friend, Patrick Moriarty, until his passing in 2007.
Survived by her daughters Lisa, Trisha of Brentwood, and Barbara of Antioch. Her son in law Robert and grandchildren Robert Jr., Alyssa and Annalyse Garcia. Her son in law Christopher and grandchildren Cynthia, Anthony, and Faith Lloyd. Her beautiful granddaughter Malissa and great granddaughters Alecia and Alivia Vance. Her grandson Daniel and his children Andrew and Laynee Everett, as well as her great grandson Nicholas Siragusa.
Aundrea leaves to cherish her memory, her wonderful sister Barbara, her nephew Bradley, and her great niece Emma Campbell, all of Tampa, Florida.
Preceded in death by her parents Elsie and Joseph Giles, Jr. In 1977 and 1993 respectively. Much to her heartbreak, Aundrea was also preceded in death by her favorite (and only) brother in law, Brian Campbell, her beautiful nephew Brett Campbell, and her grandson, Brandon Siragusa. Family meant everything to Aundrea, including the friends that were like family to her. She leaves behind a host of relatives in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. She was always a southern gal at heart. The holidays, particularly Christmas, will never be the same without the beautiful Christmas trees she meticulously decorated to perfection and her elaborate nutcracker collection she spent more than 35 years building.
On behalf of my amazing mother I would like to express my sincere gratitude to her angels at Epic Care of Antioch, whom she truly considered her friends. From admin, to the medical assistants, phlebotomists, nurses, and everyone in between, she adored each and every one of them and missed their smiling faces between treatments.
A most special and heartfelt Thank You to her Oncologist, the phenomenal Wilson Tong, M.D.
"The World's Greatest Doctor!" It is impossible to put into words how she felt about this amazing man.
Her 14 month journey with Cancer was tough but she handled it with courage and bravery, like any other challenge in her life. To some, fear would be the initial feeling when given her diagnosis. Although she was not completely free of fear, she was full of positivity, often exclaiming, "I'm gonna beat this." Not fighting was never an option for her and she faced her illness with fierce determination. In the eyes of the people that love
her most, she won her battle and she did it her way. I'm so thankful to Aundrea's Angel Army, the very special people that supported us both throughout her journey. #teamIya
A celebration of Aundrea's life will take place in September, you may contact her daughters for further details.
