Alex Beltran died peacefully at home with his parents by his side after a courageous fight with a rare form of cancer. His quick wit, intelligence and playful demeanor will be greatly missed.

Alex was a California native who enjoyed being outdoors. His adventurous spirit recently took him on a heart-pounding hike behind a waterfall in Honduras and to the top of Machu Picchu while on a family trip in the summer of 2012. Complementing his appreciation of nature was a love for video and computer games. He was also a talented writer and artist.

Alex majored in chemical engineering at UC Riverside until his diagnosis cut his studies short. He maintained his dry humor throughout his illness and inspired those around him with his great emotional strength. He is survived by his parents Myriam and Jorge, brother Jorge, sister Myriam and niece Myriam.

A memorial service will be held at Christ the King church on Tuesday, November 5. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Christus Stelin Foundation for Cancer Research on sarcomas at https://stehlin.org/join-the-fight/donate/
